Applications from local artists (dance, visual arts, music, theatre) are now being accepted for a part-time residence in the Iowa City Community School District for the 2016-17 school year. The M. C. Ginsberg Jewelers Community Arts Program annually supports a local artist to work between six and ten hours per week in the Iowa City elementary schools in the district. Running from November to May, the program which is administered by the school district, pays the selected artist $50 per hour for an anticipated total compensation of $5,000 to $6,000. Prior teaching experience is desirable.
The selected artist will instruct fifth grade students in projects related to fifth grade math studies https://iowacore.gov/iowa-core/grade/5/mathematics. Artist proposals should include a brief description as to how they will integrate their discipline with math objectives. More specifically the selection committee is requesting submitting artists provide samples of their work and examples of lessons to be used with students.
Proposals, lists of materials, and resumes should be submitted by September 28 to Debbie Yarrow, ICCSD Any Given Child Coordinator, 1725 E. Dodge St. Iowa City, IA 52240 or Yarrow.firstname.lastname@example.org . The artist will be selected through committee process no later than October 7.
